About Me

I am a fish community ecologist with a strong interest in understanding how human activities impact fish communities and their associated habitats. I hold a bachelor’s degree in biology from Eastern Illinois University and a Master’s in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences from the University of Florida, where my research focused on the effects of large-scale habitat restoration on fish communities, as well as juvenile sportfish growth and condition.

Since graduating, I’ve worked with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Geological Survey in California, Missouri, and Michigan, gaining experience across a wide range of research topics and field techniques. Most recently, I served as a Fish Biologist in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where I assessed the biomass and habitat associations of the invasive round goby.

In my current role as Lab Manager, I’m excited to broaden my experience and have the opportunity to study the diverse fish and mussel communities in Tennessee rivers, streams, and creeks.
